2026 World Cup Qualifier Osimhen Gets Job Done as Nigeria Beat Rwanda 2 0

Nigeria’s Super Eagles has defeated Rwanda 2-0 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Stade Amahoro, courtesy of Victor Osimhen’s brace.

The Galatasaray forward opened scoring in the 11th minute and again in the 45+3rd minute of first-half added time.

The match in Kigali saw Nigeria claim three crucial points in Group C, climbing fourth.

Rwanda entered the game leading the group, while Nigeria sat in fifth place with three points from four matches.

However, Osimhen stepped up to help the team move up the ladder.

His early goal came from Ademola Lookman’s cross, before a fine chip after a defensive lapse by Rwanda just before the break.

Rwanda failed to score, with their offense unable to breach Nigeria’s defense in the second half.

The victory boosts Nigeria’s standing in the tightly contested Group C, although South Africa have clinched the top spot.

Nigeria face Zimbabwe next a the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo next week Tuesday.
