A three-year-old boy was found dead this Sunday in the Jalegua River , in the Los Encuentros sector, in Yoro, Yoro , north of Honduras, according to the Fire Department.
According to the information provided by the distinguished institution, the victim responded to the name of Mateo Ramos Cruz and was a resident of the Moreno Soto neighborhood in the same municipality.
After the discovery, the infant’s body was taken to his home and handed over to his family. In this way, the three-year-old child became the second fatal victim of the effects of tropical storm Sara, now downgraded to a low-pressure system.
According to the most recent report from the Secretariat for Risk and Contingency Management ( Copeco ), the first victim died in the El Chorro neighborhood of Sabá, Colón, where the first effects of the phenomenon were received.
Damage from Sara in Honduras
The latest report from Copeco, published on Sunday night, counts a total of 110,889 people affected by the passage of Sara nationwide.
In the same report, Copeco indicated that as of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, the country had 10,326 people affected , 8,416 evacuated and 5,057 people sheltered.
They added that a total of 2,534 homes have been damaged , while 209 homes have been destroyed. They also noted that 1,70 communities remain isolated in 15 departments and 68 affected municipalities.
