Actor Gene Hackman Died 9 Days Before His Body Was Found
This was the last day of life for actor and Oscar winner Gene Hackman, according to authorities.
American actor Gene Hackman is believed to have died nine days before his body and that of his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead on Wednesday, authorities reported on Friday.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said the last signal from Hackman ‘s pacemaker was dated February 17, the date the 95-year-old Oscar-winning actor is presumed to have died.
“It is a valid assumption that that was his last day of life,” Mendoza said at a news conference.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of death for Hackman or Arakawa, but on Friday ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning. They have also said there is no evidence of foul play.
Both were found dead Wednesday in different rooms of their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico . One of their dogs was also found dead.
Suspicious death of Hackman and his wife?
However, the couple’s deaths have been deemed “suspicious” according to a search warrant affidavit released Thursday.
The search warrant signed by Detective Roy Arndt of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office says the couple was found in different rooms of their home.
Ardnt notes in the brief that the nature of the circumstances was “sufficiently suspicious to require a thorough search and investigation.”
Authorities found the two-time Oscar-winning actor lying in a hallway with his sunglasses next to him, while Arakawa was found on a bathroom floor with pills scattered near the counter, according to the warrant.
