Following the brutal accident that took the life of Adela Lagarreta Rivas, a shocking photo began to circulate in the media, showing Adela’s head between two streetlights and her body completely inert and mutilated.
The significance of her photograph was due to the elements present; such as the fact that Legarreta looked well groomed and made up , the position of her body after she died, her open eyes looking towards the sky, the sunlight illuminating her face, and the paramedic behind her about to cover her with what appears to be a sheet or coat.
The photograph was the work of renowned journalist Enrique Metinides , who covered accidents and tragedies, as well as urban chaos and the bad luck of some residents of Mexico City for the newspaper La Prensa .

After the accident, while her body was still lying on the street, photographer Enrique Metinides, known for his crime-reporting work, showed up and captured the scene.
His portrait of Legarreta became one of his most recognizable, even being described as “emblematic.” The alternative photograph of the event is said to have been captured by Metinides, although other versions exist.
