Recently, police authorities confirmed the death of Alejandro “Pata” Mendoza , one of the key witnesses in the investigation and disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña, a 5-year-old boy who disappeared on June 13, 2024 in the town of Nueve de Julio, Corrientes.

Before he was discovered dead, Mendoza posted on social media, “I do not think I will make it through the holidays, if I offended anyone I apologize, and if someone deserves it, may God forgive them.” He had recently filed a complaint against Fauna officials for “abuse of authority” over the controls implemented on national routes.
Who are the defendants in the Loan case?
In the Loan Case, related to the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña in June 2024, seven people have been charged. Among the accused are Antonio Benítez , Daniel “Fierrito” Ramírez , Laudelina Peña (the boy’s aunt), María Victoria Caillava , Carlos Pérez , Walter Maciel (former commissioner) and Mónica Millapi (family friend).
Mónica Millapi is currently under house arrest, and six of the defendants are in pretrial detention.
