The Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Decentralization (Segob) reported that due to the emergency and damage caused by tropical storm Sara , now downgraded to a low pressure system, this Monday, November 18 , the teleworking modality is granted to employees of the Executive Branch nationwide.
In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior indicated that institutions that provide public services of national defense and security, customs, emergency ports and all those of vital importance to the population and the economy of the country are exempt from this determination .
Finally, he reminded all departments and the general population to be aware of the institutions and provisions issued in this regard through the National Risk Management System (Sinager).
Judiciary to telework in departments with red alert
The Judiciary has authorized judicial employees in the departments that remain on red alert due to weather conditions to continue working remotely on Monday, November 18.
In this regard, the authorities recalled that the departments under this alert level are Gracias a Dios, Colón, Yoro, Islas de la Bahía, Atlántida, Cortés, Valle and Choluteca.
Likewise, they must inform the higher court so that judges and magistrates can request the collaboration of the information technology department for the holding of each hearing.
“During the teleworking period, judicial officers and officials must carry out their duties using technological tools and virtual communication platforms,” the statement says in part.
Finally, the Judiciary indicated that this provision will be in force until further notice , subject to the continuous evaluation of weather conditions and the safety of movement in the affected area.
Damage from rains in Honduras
The Secretariat for National Risk and Contingency Management ( Copeco ) reported that the total number of people affected has risen to 110,889 due to the passage of tropical storm Sara, now downgraded to a low pressure system.
The authorities of the civil protection institution detailed that 4,215 families have been affected , 1,985 family units evacuated and 1,226 families are in shelters.
In the same report, Copeco indicated that as of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, the country had 10,326 people affected , 8,416 evacuated and 5,057 people sheltered.
They added that a total of 2,534 homes have been damaged , while 209 homes have been destroyed. They also noted that 1,70 communities remain isolated in 15 departments and 68 affected municipalities.
