Cushing has become the favoured candidate to take charge of the Gunners, according to The Athletic. The 39-year-old spent seven years as Manchester City women’s manager before he accepted a role as assistant coach for NYCFC’s men’s team. He was then promoted to head coach in 2022.
Cushing has guided his current club to the MLS playoffs and is contracted to the club until the end of 2025, which may hinder Arsenal’s pursuit. However, he is not the only candidate for the job and the Gunners have confidence in Renee Slegers’ ability to lead the team as interim coach for now.
