Uruguayan star Federico Valverde proved crucial in helping Real Madrid avoid defeat in the Spanish capital against Man City on Tuesday. A big threat throughout, he had three shots and chipped in with two tackles as Carlo Ancelotti’s team fought hard against the visitors. It was Valverde who grabbed the equaliser, too, after his side had thrown away a 2-1 lead to fall behind.

After scoring one and setting up two against Montpellier and firing in against Marseille, he reiterated his importance once again in his team’s 3-2 defeat to Barcelona. The 24-year-old was on target to give his team the lead early in the second half, though his team squandered the lead later on.
