According to Danmamman, the police, in coordination with other security agencies, have been addressing the problem with regular raids and arrests.
“This year alone, we have arrested over 70 illegal miners, recovering items like head pans, shovels, diggers, cutlasses, sticks, and other dangerous tools,” he told reporters.
He stated that the arrested suspects were convicted and sentenced to various punishments.
Danmamman attributed the effectiveness of crime-fighting efforts to strong community participation and collaboration with stakeholders, particularly through information and intelligence sharing.
He underlined the importance of continuing cooperation between law enforcement and the general population in order to maintain a crime-free state.
