The truth behind her wedding escape
Although it was initially rumoured that her rejection was due to threats against her ex-fiancé, Elena clarified that her decision was motivated by an infidelity she discovered the day before the wedding.
“My friend gave me some photos… they had taken of you with a girl, hugging and kissing her. You hid it from me and that’s why I didn’t marry you. I stood you up so you wouldn’t cheat on me again,” Elena confessed , addressing Clever Huayán, her ex-fiancé, directly.
The images of the alleged betrayal reached her on February 14, and although she tried to process what happened, on the day of the wedding the pressure was too strong.
“I love him, but I don’t love him. He told me that little by little I would come to love him, but that day I was overcome with tears and said ‘I’m sorry everyone, I don’t accept’. I took off my shoes and ran away like crazy,” she said.

What happened to Clever after the rejection?
During the interview, Clever Huayán was also present and publicly apologized to Elena.
“I ask you, before our entire country, to forgive me, sweetheart. In front of the cameras I ask you, please, forgive me,” the man said with evident sadness.
Despite the public embarrassment and the scandal on social media, the couple is still together, although Elena made it clear that she is not yet ready to get married. In fact, they tried to have a symbolic wedding, but she was unable to take the final step.
