In the style of Where’s the Money? during the government of Juan Orlando Hernández, the streets and avenues of Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, woke up this Thursday with several signs with the legend “Half is for the commander,” a phrase taken from the “narcovideo” that involves the close circle of President Xiomara Castro.
On September 3, the Insight Crime Foundation released a video showing Carlos Zelaya , the brother of former President Manuel Zelaya and brother-in-law of President Xiomara Castro, negotiating bribes with drug traffickers, including then-member of Los Cachiros, Devis Rivera Maradiaga.
In one part of the conversation, Carlos Zelaya tells the drug traffickers that half of the money, some $650,000, would go to the commander, as former President Manuel Zelaya is known. “Half is for the commander,” Zelaya can be heard saying in the 34-minute video.
