A woman has appeared in court for the first time after being named in a case involving a controversial video featuring a live trout. She is Catherine June Lee , a 58-year-old resident of the Hobart suburb of Howden.
Authorities accuse Lee of engaging in acts of bestiality and of being linked to the production of such material. The incidents are reported to have occurred between February 2022 and January 2023.
The charges include possession of bestiality-related content, as well as the manufacture or reproduction of such material. The case has generated widespread public interest and is still in the judicial process.

Dressed in a black suit, Catherine June Lee appeared before the Hobart Magistrates’ Court, where she requested an adjournment without entering a plea. The magistrate granted her request and set a new hearing for October, The Mercury reported .
According to authorities, the footage in question shows Lee lying on a boat offshore off southern Tasmania. In the footage, her co-accused, Ashley David Hallam, uses a live brown trout to perform a sexual act on her, which has caused shock.
Hallam, 55, already appeared in court in May this year. However, he has not yet entered a plea as the case continues its course through the judicial system.

Ashley David Hallam, originally from Dolphin Sands, Tasmania, faces serious charges relating to the production and possession of bestiality material. Specifically, he is charged with two counts of manufacturing or reproducing such content and three counts of possession of such material.
Both Hallam and Catherine June Lee were arrested by authorities in February 2023. At the time, police issued a reminder to the public about the illegality of possessing or distributing material of this nature.
The warning underlines the seriousness of this type of crime and seeks to raise awareness about the legal implications of engaging with this content.
