This announcement comes after reports of the closure of three maquilas in northern Honduras.
The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cortés (CCIC), Karim Qubain, announced through TSi’s Noticieros Hoy Mismo, the creation of 20,000 new jobs and an investment of more than 1.5 million dollars for the period 2025-2026.
This information comes after the announcement of the closure of three maquilas in the northern part of Honduras, news that has alarmed workers, a situation that the government denies is due to internal conditions in the country, claiming external factors such as the sale of international brands.
Among the investments mentioned by Qubain, he highlighted the Texhong Honduras plant, which will invest 500 million dollars and generate 7,000 jobs in the textile sector.
In addition, the company SUNDA will establish a plant in Choloma for the production of ceramics, porcelain, detergents, diapers and sanitary napkins, with an investment of 120 million dollars.
My Father Cigars has also announced the opening of a cigar factory in El Paraíso, with an investment of 20 million dollars, which will generate 3,000 new jobs and has already begun operations.
On the other hand, the Dansun company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE), to develop a 300 MW solar plant with batteries in Choloma.
