Choloma Finds Two Young Men who Went Missing Dead.
One was decapitated and another suffered machete wounds. Here’s what we know about this unfortunate incident.
Two young men were found dead on the banks of the Choloma River , in the department of Cortés , northern Honduras, on Wednesday afternoon.
Both had been reported missing for several days, along with three other people, whose whereabouts are still unknown.
According to their families, the victims were busy carrying sand from the river, a job common among young people in the area . They left for work and never returned, which alarmed their families.
One of the bodies was identified by relatives as Guillermo Amaya . The young man was found on private property, bound hand and foot, according to national media reports.
One of the bodies, identified as Joel Cáceres , showed clear signs of decapitation, while the other had a deep wound in the neck. Relatives of the missing men arrived at the scene to assist with the search for the bodies.
“He didn’t bother anyone, he had two daughters, he was someone who made a living with what he earned,” a relative of one of the deceased told a local media outlet.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of death and whether the incident is related to criminal activity.
National Police officers arrived at the scene to secure the scene and begin the investigative process. The whereabouts of the other three missing individuals are currently unknown. Authorities have not confirmed whether they are alive or could be found in the coming hours.
