Russian parliamentarians warn against the use of U.S. long-range missiles on Russian territory.
US President Joe Biden has decided to make an important decision in his final months in the White House that could turn the war in Ukraine in a new direction. According to the American newspaper The New York Times, Kiev may now use American long-range missiles to protect its soldiers in control of the Kursk region in western Russia. And a sharp reaction from Russia has not been long in coming.
“The decision of the United States to allow Ukraine to attack Russia with American long-range missiles is a very big step toward the beginning of World War III.” So Vladimir Dzhabarov, the deputy head of the Russian House of Lords’ International Affairs Committee, told state news agency TASS Sunday evening.
“Biden administration wants escalation”
Maria Boetina, a member of the Russian House of Commons, also warns of a Third World War and hopes new U.S. President Donald Trump will reverse the decision. “The Biden administration is trying to escalate the situation to the maximum, as long as it still has power,” she let Reuters note.
Leonid Sloetsky, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian House of Commons, said that “attacks by U.S. missiles deep into Russian regions will inevitably lead to a serious escalation, which could lead to much worse consequences.”
