US President Donald Trump has decided to impose a global 10% tariff on all imports to various Latin American countries, including Honduras.
These tariffs, specific to each country or economic bloc, such as the European Union, will begin to be applied starting April 9, officials explained in a call with the press. The base tariff of 10% will begin to be applied on Saturday, April 5, according to those sources.
Trump is currently detailing the tariffs each of those countries will pay, plus the 10% tariff that will affect everyone else, at a major event in the White House Rose Garden titled “Make America Wealthy Again.”

Some of the products that Honduras exports to the United States are:
- Fruits and vegetables : Banana, melon, pineapple, cucumber.
- Clothing : T-shirts, sweaters, socks, textile fibers, knitted or crocheted fabrics, yarns.
- Manufactured products : Electrical harnesses, accessories and components for the automotive industry.
- Sugar : Cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose.
- Coffee : One of the main agricultural export products.
- Insulated cable : One of the main products exported to the United States in 2023.
