Eight People Died in Traffic Accidents in The Tast 24 Hours

In the last 24 hours, eight people have lost their lives in various traffic accidents nationwide, according to the National Directorate of Roads and Transport (DNVT).
At least 31 accidents have been recorded so far on Sunday, a figure that continues to demonstrate the importance of responsible driving to avoid tragedies on the roads, according to DNVT sub-inspector Rixi Montoya.
“As always, we call on the population to drive responsibly and with caution to prevent these types of figures from increasing,” Montoya recommended.
On the other hand, during the weekend and in the last few hours, the authorities have confiscated around 700 driving licenses for various infractions and crimes. Among these, 53 cases of drivers sanctioned for driving under the influence of alcohol stand out.

Despite these incidents, statistics show a reduction in the number of deaths compared to last year. While in 2024 there were 305 deaths due to road accidents in the same period, in 2025 the number has dropped to 270, reflecting a significant decrease.

Traffic accident figures
Despite these incidents, statistics show a reduction in the number of deaths compared to last year. While in 2024 there were 305 deaths due to road accidents in the same period, in 2025 the number has dropped to 270, reflecting a significant decrease.
The number of injured people has also been reported to have decreased from 540 in 2024 to 454 this year, which represents 86 fewer cases.
The total number of traffic accidents has also decreased. From January to date, 2,632 accidents have been reported, 268 fewer than in the same period last year.
