Euro 2024 will be the 17th edition of the European Championship and Germany has been chosen as the host nation, with some of the best teams in the world set to feature in the finals of the tournament.
A total of 24 teams will participate and the qualification cycle began in March 2023, concluding in November 2023.
There have been 20 automatic qualification spots, with two teams having progressed from each qualification group. The hosts qualified automatically and the remaining three places are decided by play-offs, with the best-placed teams from the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League, who have not automatically qualified, contesting those.
Ahead of the draw for Euro 2024, GOAL brings you every qualified team at the upcoming European Championship.
Germany | Hosts
Germany qualified for Euro 2024 as the host nation.
It will be their 14th European Championship appearance and Julian Nagelsmann will be expected to ensure the team challenges for glory.
Germany have won the Euros three times – 1972, 1980 and 1996 – and will be attempting to end a 28-year-wait for the trophy.
France | Group B winner
Two-time European champions France sauntered through Group B to secure qualification for Euro 2024 as section winners, beating the likes of the Netherlands, Gibraltar, Greece, and the Republic of Ireland with relative ease.
Kylian Mbappe and Co. will be firmly among the favourites to win in Germany, provided they remain focused.
Portugal | Group J winner
Portugal’s route to Euro 2024 was confirmed in October after they demolished every team in Group J, leaving Slovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Co. trailing in their dust.
Cristiano Ronaldo played his part in sending his country to Germany, where they will compete in the European Championship for the ninth time in their history.
Belgium | Group F winner
Belgium were one of the first teams to book their place at Euro 2024, having cruised through Group F.
Now managed by Italian coach Domenico Tedesco, the Red Devils are without a number of players from their famous ‘Golden Generation’, including Eden Hazard, but they will still be expected to challenge for the trophy in Germany.
Spain | Group A winner
After a wobbly start, Spain steadied themselves and sailed through Group A, overcoming the likes of Scotland and Erling Haaland’s Norway.
The three-time European champions are on a mission to make up for a barren few years, which has seen them fail to win a major tournament since 2012.
With young prospects such as Lamine Yamal and Gavi in their ranks, the baton has been passed to the next generation of La Roja stars.
Turkey | Group D winner
Turkey qualified for Euro 2024 after coming through a difficult campaign in Group D, which featured the likes of Wales and Croatia.
Despite a deflating home loss to Croatia early in the group, Turkey recovered well, with big performances from the likes of Cenk Tosun, Arda Guler and Kerem Akturkoglu propelling them to Germany.
England | Group C winner
England booked their place at Euro 2024 with a big win over Italy at Wembley in October.
The Three Lions reached the final of the last European Championship, where they lost to Italy, so will be driven by a desire to correct that and win a major trophy for the first time since 1966.
Scotland | Group A runners-up
Scotland will be taking part in Euro 2024 thanks to an impressive qualification campaign that saw them defeat Spain, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus.
It will be just their fourth European Championship appearance, having previously only competed at Euro 2020, Euro 1996 and Euro 1992.
Netherlands | Group B runners-up
Netherlands qualified for the finals in Germany as runners-up in Group B, behind France.
The Flying Dutchmen’s victory over the Republic of Ireland secured their ticket for next summer’s tournament.
Italy | Group C runners-up
Italy booked their place in the competition on the final day with a draw against Ukraine.
They finished in second place with 14 points, six behind winners England.
Albania | Group E winners
Albania qualified for their second-ever European Championships with a 1-1 draw in Moldova. Sokol Cikalleshi scored a 25th-minute penalty but Moldova equalised with three minutes remaining.
Still, Albania secured a first-place finish, winning the group by defeating the Faroe Islands, who came in bottom of Group E.
Czech Republic | Group E runners-up
A victory against Moldova in the final round of qualifying matches saw the Czech Republic progress to the finals.
They finished level on points with Albania, who drew 0-0 with Faroe Islands to conclude the group stage, but lost out on first place because of their head-to-head record.
Austria | Group F runners-up
Austria qualified for Euro 2024 after making their way through a tough Group F. They finished second, only one point behind first-place Belgium. They will look to better their Euro 2020 run that saw them fall in the Round of 16 after extra-time to eventual winners Italy.
Hungary | Group G winner
Hungary’s feisty 2-2 draw with Bulgaria on November 16 was enough to make sure of their Euro 2024 fate. They followed it up with a 3-1 victory over Albania on the final matchday, which secured their status as Group G leaders.
Serbia | Group G runners-up
Serbia drew 2-2 with Bulgaria on November 19 to confirm their qualification as Group G runners-up, four points behind leaders Hungary. Milos Veljkovic and Srdan Babic scored the goals for the hosts, and they will be playing at their first Euros since 2000 next summer.
Denmark | Group H winners
Denmark qualified for Euro 2024 thanks to their 2-1 win over Slovenia on November 18. Joakim Maehle and Thomas Delaney scored in the victory, and Denmark will aim to win the trophy for the first time since 1992.
Slovenia | Group H runners-up
A 2-1 win against Kazakhstan in their final game of the qualifying round saw Slovenia come in second in Group H.
Benjamin Sesko and Benjamin Verbic scored the vital goals to ensure Matjaz Kek’s team beat their final opponents to a place in the competition, finishing level on points with leaders, Denmark.
Romania | Group I winner
Romania guaranteed their qualification resoundingly, as they topped Group I with 22 points, five ahead of runner-up Switzerland.
Switzerland | Group I runner-up
Switzerland booked their place at Euro 2024 by securing a top-two finish in Group I with 17 points from their eight games, losing only once throughout the qualification process. This will be their third successive appearance at the Euro finals and sixth overall.
Slovakia | Group J runners up
Slovakia booked their place at Euro 2024 with a 4-2 win over Iceland on November 16. Goals from Juraj Kucka, Ondrej Duda and a brace from Lukas Haraslin sealed a historic victory. The result sees them finish second behind leaders Portugal in Group J.
Croatia | Group D runners-up
Semi-finalists at the World Cup 12 months ago, Croatia’s prospects of automatic qualification had appeared in doubt when they lost to both Turkey and Wales in October, but they became the 21st and final automatic qualifier for the 24-team tournament next June and July after pipping Wales in a tight race for the runners-up automatic qualification place in Group D on Matchday 10.
