Everybody will leave one day’ – Mohamed Salah says he will ‘always remember the good things’ at Liverpool amid contract uncertainty

Salah has once again been leaving cryptic messages for Liverpool fans as he reflects on his time at the club. The Egyptian winger has just over six months left on his current deal at Anfield with there currently being no signs that a new contract has been agreed between the two parties. Once again asked about his future, the 32-year-old admitted that Roberto Firmino leaving for Al-Ahli was a reminder to him that everything in football has its end.

  WHAT SALAH SAID

  Speaking on the club’s YouTube channel, Salah said: “The thing I appreciate the most is the time when I go every morning and I see the guys and share unbelievable moments, especially us three plus Virgil [van Dijk] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold], the senior group.

  “When Bobby [Firmino] left, for example, you realise everybody will leave one day so I don’t take that for granted. When I go [to the training ground], I always try to have a laugh with them and spend good time together. In my head, I always remember the good things we had together.”

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  It is easy to speculate as an outsider but the reality is that no-one other than Salah and Liverpool knows what is going on behind closed doors. In the face of the media, the in-form winger is trying to brush off questions about his future and insists that his focus is on winning everything during Arne Slot’s first season in charge.

  He added: “Win it all. In my opinion, I work so hard every day, I hate the idea that we are underdogs. No, we have an incredible group… In each position, you’re gonna find players that are really one of the top three in the world. So, why we don’t win it? This city and this club has to always fight for everything.”

  WHAT NEXT FOR SALAH?

  Should we enter 2025 and Salah has still not penned an extension on Merseyside, he would be free to negotiate with other clubs about a potential transfer next summer. But with the Reds top of the league and cruising under Slot, it is hard to imagine the ex-Chelsea man not being keen to stay at Anfield, unless there are financial motivations on his mind keeping him from rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia.
