Renowned Brazilian footballer Givanildo Vieira de Souza , known as Hulk , entered into a religious marriage with Camila Souza, niece of his ex-wife Iran Angelo, in a ceremony that fueled family controversy.
The wedding took place last Friday, January 3, at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Diocesan Cathedral, in Campina Grande, Paraíba , Brazil , the couple’s hometown.
The event was attended by close friends and family, but criticism was quick to erupt, especially from Iran’s sister Rayssa, who publicly lashed out at the couple on social media.
Hulk’s previous marriage
Hulk , 38, was married to Iran Angelo for 12 years , with whom she had three children before their split in 2019.
Shortly after the divorce, the footballer confirmed his relationship with Camila , which generated immediate controversy due to the family relationship and emotional closeness between the two women.
Although the couple had already formalized their civil marriage in 2020 and have two daughters together, Zaya (2 years old) and Aisha (6 months), the religious ceremony revived old grudges.
Rayssa didn’t hold back and shared a heartbreaking message in which she described the wedding as “a difficult day to accept,” comparing the betrayal to the biblical story of Judas.
“Today is a difficult day to accept, a day that reveals how far betrayal can go when it comes from the people we least expect. If my mother were alive, I am sure she would not put up with such monstrosity,” Rayssa wrote on social media.
Iran ‘s sister also noted that the ceremony coincided with the anniversary of her mother’s death, further intensifying the family’s grief.
“Seeing a granddaughter who grew up under her roof betray her own family in such a cruel way would be a shock that would be impossible to overcome.”
But the strongest statements came when he referred to betrayal with a biblical tone: “This photo could well have been taken at Judas’ wedding. It is sad to realize that Judas does not only exist in ancient stories; sometimes he sleeps under the same roof, eats at the same table and, at the right moment, stabs someone in the back.”
His ex-wife spoke out
For her part, Iran Angelo, Hulk ‘s ex-wife and Camila’s aunt, has not hidden her pain since the relationship became public. “She was like a daughter to me. I wake up and go to bed without understanding why this happened to me. The pain is so great that I feel like it will rip my heart out,” she said, moved.
Iran said she was always a mother figure to Camila : “I gave everything to this girl since she came into the world. I sacrificed my dreams so many times to make hers come true. And I’m not just talking about material goods, but about love, affection and respect.”
Despite the scandal, Hulk and Camila have remained strong in their relationship and frequently publicly demonstrate their love through their social media.
The couple seems to have put the criticism behind them, but the family tension continues to be the focus of attention on the main entertainment portals, which have not hesitated to describe the story as a “forbidden love.”
