Famous reggaeton singer is investigated for killing horses
Charges against the famous reggaeton singer will be formally filed on January 30.
Reggaeton singer José Fernando Cosculluela , known for hits such as ‘Prrrum’ and ‘Traicionera’, is at the centre of a judicial investigation after being involved in a tragic accident in May 2024.
The incident resulted in the death of two horses and serious injuries to their riders, Ischamary Román, 18, and Luis de Jesús, 34.
The accident occurred when the artist was driving a Hummer vehicle, hitting the riders and their horses, but then fled the scene; he was later identified as the sole person responsible for the accident.
During his first appearance before the authorities, he chose not to make any statements and pleaded the Fifth Amendment, according to EFE reports.
The district attorney for Humacao, Yamil Juarabe, confirmed the involvement of the reggaeton singer, assuring that the evidence links him directly to the accident.
“We are more than clear and confident that we have the right suspect ,” the prosecutor said.
The judicial process is moving forward and it is expected that the charges against the singer, who also faces accusations of fleeing the scene after the accident, will be formally filed on January 30 .
This case could have a significant impact on Cosculluela’s legal and professional future.
Cosculluela and the legal problems
This is not the first time the artist has faced legal problems. In May 2023, he was sentenced to three years of probation after being accused of gender-based violence against his ex-partner , influencer Jennifer Fungeniz.
The allegations included psychological and physical abuse , as well as mistreatment during Fungeniz’s pregnancy.
Prosecutor Juarabe stressed the seriousness of the case, emphasizing the ethical and legal consequences of reckless acts on public roads.
“It is essential to understand the seriousness of reckless acts on the road and their devastating effect on human and animal life,” he concluded.
