A man of at least 40 years old became the first victim of drowning on Friday during the Morazan Week holiday in Honduras, reported authorities from the National Commission for the Prevention of Mass Mobilizations (Conapremm).
The tragic incident occurred in a beach resort in the municipality of Sabanagrande, Francisco Morazán , south of the Honduran capital.
The incident occurred when, after several minutes without seeing the victim, the rescue teams began their search and found him in the depths of the pool. Witnesses reported that, despite first aid being given, the man was declared dead shortly after.
Police officers arrived at the scene to begin an investigation, as well as Forensic Medicine personnel to remove the body and then perform the corresponding autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
In light of this incident, the authorities reiterated their call to the population, reminding them of the importance of not entering the water if they do not know how to swim and the recommendation to wait at least one hour after eating before entering the water.
