Five Hondurans Die In The US After a Vehicle Crashes Into a Tree

A fatal traffic accident in Lee County, North Carolina, United States, claimed the lives of five Hondurans early Sunday morning.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) confirmed the crash occurred on Colon Road shortly before 12:30 a.m.
Accident details
According to the preliminary report from the authorities, a Dodge Charger that was traveling at high speed on the highway lost control, went off the road and ended up violently impacting a tree.
As a result of the crash, all five occupants of the vehicle died on the spot.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the accident, but were unable to do anything to save the victims.
The impact was so strong that it left the car completely destroyed, making rescue efforts and identification of the bodies difficult.
Ongoing research
NCSHP has launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The investigation is investigating whether factors such as speeding, road conditions, the driver’s condition or possible mechanical failures could have contributed to the fatal outcome.
So far only one of the victims has been identified, Osiris Mabel Muñoz, 17 years old.
Osiris Mabel Muñoz emigrated to the United States with her father at the age of 15. According to preliminary reports, Osiris had gone out with four other compatriots to a birthday party.
Authorities are awaiting official confirmation of the identities of the other victims from the medical examiner’s office.
Meanwhile, relatives and friends of the deceased in Honduras and the United States have expressed their dismay and grief at the tragedy.

This accident has shocked the Honduran migrant community in the United States.
On social media, relatives of the victims have asked for support for the repatriation of the bodies and have requested help from the Honduran consular authorities to expedite the process.
