After a TikTok user going by the handle @mateoever claimed to be the ex-boyfriend of Yeimi Licona, the fiancée of well-known Japanese philanthropist Shin Fujiyama, the drama went viral on social media.
These statements not only unleashed a wave of comments, but also provoked a direct reaction from Yeimi
He wrote, “He took my girlfriend away and I think how much we support him,” in a post that received a lot of views right away. “That Chinese guy took my girlfriend away from me,” he said in a second video, clearly moved and crying. How would I look at him?”
Many users questioned the accuracy of his remarks, particularly when he used the term “Chinese,” which prompted criticism for his ignorance and inappropriate remarks, even though the remarks appeared to elicit some reactions from the users.
Yeimi Licona’s response
Yeimi Licona responded to the statements promptly and made her stance on the matter clear. In a forceful message, she said:
“This is NOT the way to get followers, but it is okay if you want to do that. This is not a game anymore. It irritates me when people use our photo and make fakes. Be a man, don’t do that stuff. It’s defamation.”
Yeimi also chastised the user for being ignorant and calling Shin “Chinese.” “From there, their ignorance is evident. I have always been a very good person, so this is really annoying, especially when they are damaging my name or my future husband’s,” she continued.
The controversy divided opinions between those who defend Yeimi and Shin, and those who believe that the alleged ex could be seeking attention on the platform.
Many users have, however, noted that discrediting the couple may be attempted by disseminating statements without supporting evidence and using pictures of them.
As for Shin Fujiyama, he has refrained from commenting on the issue and is still concentrating on his charitable endeavors in Honduras, where he is well-known for his initiatives promoting education there.
A call for calm
Yeimi, who will give birth to her first child in a few months, reminded people that not everything that goes viral online is accurate as she concluded her message with a social media call for responsibility.
“I’m clarifying this because people believe everything they see. “Look for something to do, sir,” he said firmly, but removed the statement from his Instagram stories a few minutes later.
