France plans to use 300 million euros of Russian assets to purchase weapons for Ukraine.
As reported by BFMTV, the government intends to use this financial windfall, seized from Russian oligarchs, to buy military equipment that will then be sent to Ukraine.
France will send 12 Caesar artillery systems, and Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu explained on television that the funds will be secured by the end of the year. These will also be used to buy shells, missiles, and guided bombs.
The minister emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine to prevent Russia from gaining more territory, as the conflict between the two neighboring nations has been ongoing for over two years.
This announcement comes as Volodymyr Zelensky continues urging allied countries to lift restrictions on using Western weapons directly against targets inside Russia.
Despite multiple requests, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany have all refused this demand.
