Haaland Hits 40th International Goal Becomes Europe Top Scorer
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland netted his 40th international goal in Norway’s 4-2 win over Israel, cementing his status as the top scorer across Europe’s top-five leagues this season.
Haaland, who also featured in Norway’s 5-0 victory over Moldova, played a crucial role in attack alongside Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard, who provided three assists, including one for the City forward in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
With 38 goals and five assists in 46 matches for club and country this season, the 23-year-old has surpassed all other goal scorers in Europe’s elite leagues.
His remarkable form extends to the Premier League, where he recently reached 100 goal contributions in just 94 appearances—the fastest in league history.
He broke Alan Shearer’s record of 100 games, set in 1995.
For Manchester City, Haaland remains the top scorer in the Premier League this season with 21 goals in 28 appearances, as Pep Guardiola’s side continues their push for domestic and European glory.
The Norwegian striker will now return to club duties ahead of City’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Bournemouth on March 30.
