Who is Tommaso Debenedetti?, the journalist who invented the death of the writer

Tommaso Debenedetti is an Italian journalist who, since the 2000s, has claimed to have many fake interviews and deaths of famous people, which is why he is known as the “king of fake news”. Tommaso is rumored to have created a fake account on X of Editorial Tusquets , where he published that Fernando Aramburo had died.

This is fake news and has been denied by Tusquets Editores. The public agency headed by Miguel Ángel Oliver has withdrawn the information and has apologized for the fake news that the Italian journalist spread by creating an account similar to the official one of the media.

Tommaso’s father is Antonio Debenedetti, a well-known Italian writer, journalist, poet, critic and essayist. The newspapers of his home country describe Tommaso as “the man who for 10 years made fun of the entire Italian journalistic system.”

He studied Italian history and literature, and soon after began working as a freelance journalist. In 1994, when he specialized in the literary field, he published reviews and magazines with well-known writers. The journalist’s desire was to combine his work as a cultural editor.

Fernando Aramburu Irigoyen was born in San Sebastián on January 4, 1959. He has been a prominent writer in his country and is known for his works: His novel “Patria” from 2016, where he took up the theme of ETA terrorism, addressed in “Los peces de la amargura”, which was a critical and public success.

In 2009 he left teaching to devote himself completely to writing (literary creation). His books have been translated into more than 30 languages and he frequently collaborates with the Spanish press. Among his most notable works are: Fuegos con limón, Los ojos vacíos, Los peces de la amargura, among others.
