Honduran Dies After Being Run Over by a Ghost Car on The CA-5

A man was run over and killed by a ‘ghost car ‘ on the night of Saturday, March 1 , on the CA-5 highway, near San Nicolás, Villa de San Antonio, Comayagua , central Honduras.
The incident occurred when the Honduran tried to cross the dark road, at which point the car hit him , according to information provided to local media by elements of the National Directorate of Roads and Transportation (DNVT).
The driver of the car fled the scene, so authorities are looking into whether there are security cameras in the area to identify him.

The victim was identified as Santos Benito López Mendoza, 47 years old . He was originally from the municipality of Guajiquiro, La Paz , in the southwestern part of Honduras.
So far, no further details have been released about the victim of the accident, who has already been transferred to his homeland , where his family will bid him farewell.
Mother hit by another ‘ghost car’
On February 25, a woman was run over by a ‘ghost car ‘ when she tried to save the life of her son, who crossed the road without caution.
Shocking images of the incident that occurred in the morning hours in the community of Los Achiotes, Omoa, Cortés , northern Honduras, were spread through social media .
One of the clips shows how the woman, who was returning from school with her other daughter, enters the highway to avoid her child being run over by the car.
The mother was sent flying several metres before falling to the ground and being rescued by relatives and neighbours, while the driver continued on his way as if nothing had happened.
His identity and medical condition have not yet been revealed . Nothing is known about the person behind the wheel of the car.
Deaths from traffic accidents in Honduras
In the first two months of the year, a total of 2,496 traffic accidents have been recorded , according to the Online Police Statistical System ( Sepol ).
Most cases have been recorded in Francisco Morazán (1,054), Cortés (1,024), Choluteca (107) and Comayagua (53).
250 Hondurans have lost their lives in these accidents , the majority in Cortés (57), Francisco Morazán (47) and Comayagua (21).
