A Honduran citizen was involved in an attempted murder of a woman on one of the streets of the Huertas de la Progreso neighborhood, Mexicali, Mexico.
The victim, identified as Ana Karina, 39 , was brutally attacked with a knife, receiving multiple wounds to the face, neck, cheekbone, armpit, forearm and shoulder.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the attacker, identified only as Luis Alberto , 29 , originally from Honduras, was arrested thanks to the quick action of a passerby who was passing by.
Witnesses to the incident reported that the citizen managed to stop the attacker in the middle of his violent assault and held him until the authorities could arrive at the scene to arrest him.
The alleged murderer was handed over to the municipal police and will later be transferred to the State Prosecutor’s Office to face charges for his attempted murder.
The local community has expressed shock and concern over the incident, while stressing the importance of solidarity and community vigilance in preventing and addressing acts of violence.
