A video of a poignant reunion between a Honduran woman and her mother after 12 years apart has gone viral on TikTok, eliciting emotional responses from hundreds of users.
Wendy Romero, who had lived in the United States, wanted to return to her home country and surprise her mother with an unexpected visit.

As soon as she realizes who it is, her mother quickly stands up and they both embrace each other in a hug full of tears and words of love.
“Thank you, my God, for letting me see her again, my love, I can’t believe it,” the mother exclaimed as she held her daughter in her sobs. Wendy handed her a bouquet of roses, making the reunion even more special.
Message loaded with emotion
The Honduran wrote an emotive caption to accompany the video, which has now been viewed thousands of times:
“After leaving my country for 12 years not knowing whether I would return, thank God I was finally able to return to hug my mother again, and I arrived as a surprise. No matter how many years pass, we will always need our mothers.”
Distance and unbreakable love
Wendy Romero’s story reflects the reality of many Hondurans who, in search of better opportunities, emigrate to other countries, facing long periods without being able to see their loved ones.
His return and the surprise he gave his mother have touched the hearts of those who have also experienced the distance.
“Only those who experience it understand the pain of migrants,” “It made me cry,” “I cry every time I see this type of family reunion,” are some of the comments.
