In Borno State, a deadly clash between Boko Haram and ISWAP claimed the lives of over 15 fighters
The conflict started on Tuesday when ISWAP launched a coordinated attack on Bakura Buduma faction-aligned Boko Haram fighters, according to intelligence sources quoted by Zagazola Makama.
Boko Haram suffered significant losses as a result of the attack, which was intended to establish dominance, and ISWAP took several weapons during the conflict.
The two groups are engaged in a continuous struggle for influence, territory, and resources in the Lake Chad region, which includes this incident.
According to sources, the factions’ internal strife has gotten more intense in recent months as each side tries to increase its footprint.
The Boko Haram faction is apparently gaining ground against ISWAP in the region despite the recent setback.
