WHAT HAPPENED?

Duran signed with Aston Villa in January of last year and had impressed last season with the limited number of appearances afforded to him. The 20-year-old was linked with a move away from the club earlier this summer but ended up staying at Villa Park. So far this season, Duran has been on top form for Aston Villa as the Colombian striker has become a ‘super sub’ for Unai Emery, and the Premier League side have rewarded him with a new long-term deal.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Aston Villa announced on Monday that Duran had officially sealed a new contract with the side until the summer of 2030 putting an end to rumours linking him with a potential move in 2025. It had been reported earlier this month that German giants Bayern Munich and Premier League side Chelsea had been impressed by Duran’s skill set and were pondering a move for the striker.
