JUST IN: Russian missile blows up Santa Claus in mid-air: Strange video broadcast by pro-Kremlin media

The images show Santa Claus on his sleigh being blown up by the country’s air defense system. The big problem with the video, which was intended to be humorous, is that it came just hours after a plane crashed in Kazakhstan, killing 38 people. According to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Russian armed forces were behind the crash.

Target: a sleigh

According to the Moscow Times, the video was first posted on the Telegram channel “Pul N3”. It begins with Santa flying over central Moscow to the American tune of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, reports Le Parisien“Hello, Russians! Here are your presents!” exclaimed the Western Santa Claus as he sipped a Coca-Cola (a reference to the famous advert), while his sleigh appeared in a close-up, filled with missiles bearing Nato logos. After that, Santa Claus has time to let out a “Happy New Year” before a missile shoots down his transport, causing it to explode in mid-air, says Le Parisien.

End of the sequence

The video ends with a shot of a Russian soldier and “Ded Moroz” (the Russian version of Santa Claus), observing the scene on one of the screens in a control room. All to the melody of a traditional Russian carol. “Is it done?” questions Ded Moroz. “Yes, it’s done. The target has been destroyed,” replies the Russian serviceman.
