JUST IN: UK and Ukraine commit to 100-year security deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a historic partnership agreement yesterday.

The agreement provides for enhanced cooperation in defence and maritime security, as well as scientific and technological partnerships in health, agro-technology, space and drones.

“We have signed a historic agreement together, the first of its kind, a new partnership between the United Kingdom and Ukraine that reflects the enormous affection that exists between our two nations,” Keir Starmer told reporters after the signing ceremony, stressing that the main goal of his visit to Ukraine is to ensure that Ukraine is in the strongest possible position in 2025.

“Our discussions took place to the sound of air defense operations here in Kiev, so the number one task is to increase cooperation so that the Ukrainian air defense shield, our army, our Ukrainian maritime forces, cybersecurity are strong enough to resist Russia,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Keir Starmer also discussed the possibility of stationing Western troops in Ukraine to oversee a possible ceasefire agreement.
