Bournemouth have been linked with a shock swoop for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Per The Athletic, Bournemouth are working on a deal to sign Kepa from Chelsea on loan. The 29-year-old was on loan at Real Madrid last season but was not retained by the Liga giants.
Kepa has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea, who have a wealth of goalkeeping options. They signed Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal earlier this summer, and also have Robert Sanchez, Marcus Bettinelli, Djordje Petrovic, and Lucas Bergstrom on their books.
If Kepa were to leave on loan, he would need to agree to a contract extension first, as his current deal expires in 2025, and Chelsea remain keen to recoup a fee for a player they signed in 2018. Bournemouth have placed Kepa at the top of their shortlist but also retain an interest in Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.
WHAT NEXT?
Bournemouth will hope to secure Kepa’s signing but will have to beat off competition from several rival clubs to do so. Chelsea face Wolves this weekend, while Bournemouth play Newcastle.
