Kim Jong Un has accused the United States of heightening tensions and fueling conflict, warning that the Korean Peninsula is currently facing very serious nuclear risks.
During a speech at an exhibition, the North Korean leader stated that he had attempted to negotiate with Washington, but claimed their policies toward his country were “aggressive and hostile,” according to North Korea’s state media outlet KCNA.
Kim Jong Un also urged his nation to continue developing a significant nuclear arsenal to strengthen its position on the global stage.
North Korea has reportedly sent a contingent of 12,000 troops to Russia, and in return, Pyongyang is believed to have requested technological assistance to advance its nuclear weapons program.
Meanwhile, Kyiv fears that North Korea might deploy even more soldiers, as Moscow struggles to regain control of the Kursk region.
Last summer, thousands of Ukrainian troops surprised Moscow by easily crossing the border and pushing deep into the region. Despite repeated offensives, Russia has been unable to drive back Ukrainian forces.
