Lil Baby has answered Young Thug‘s collaboration request while welcoming his mentor home from jail.
In some of his first comments after accepting a plea deal in his long-running YSL RICO case, Thugger took to X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend to let Lil Baby know that he wants them to drop a new song together.
“Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter,” he wrote, referring to Lil Baby by his nickname (while also alluding to the rampant allegations of snitching that have circled the YSL RICO case).
The 4PF boss appeared to reply on his Instagram Stories, posting a video soundtracked by his and Thug’s 2020 collaboration “We Should.”
He then wrote a welcome home message to Thug, saying: “I missed you mf!!!! Welcome home my brudda! Thank God you able to get back to your fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack! #whatwhamsaysgoes.”
While Young Thug and his attorney requested permission to work with Gunna as part of his plea deal, despite being forbidden from communicating with his former co-defendants while on probation, his desire to work with Lil Baby could be perceived as a shot at his YSL signee.
In the months after Gunna controversially accepted a plea deal in the YSL RICO case, Baby was very vocal about his disdain for his former collaborator — at one point calling him a “rat.”
Thug also appeared to side with Baby over Gunna before the trial came to an abrupt end, tweeting from behind bars this past summer: “whateva wham say goes.”
Gunna was released from jail in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea, meaning he maintained his innocence but recognized that it was in his best interest to plead guilty to a single racketeering charge.
Despite the widespread backlash he’s faced for his plea deal, the “Fukumean” rapper has vehemently denied snitching on Young Thug.
“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” he said in a statement following his release from jail.
Gunna has yet to publicly comment on Thug’s own plea deal and release from jail.
While Thugger is allowed contact with Gunna given their contractual relationship through YSL, his 15-year probation includes a number of strict conditions including not being allowed to make any gang-related references in his music.
If he violates his probation, Thug faces 20 years in prison.
