Liverpool Everton Denied Appeal to Reschedule Merseyside Derby
Liverpool and Everton have had their late appeal to move the Merseyside derby forward by a day denied, despite both clubs seeking an adjustment to aid their schedules.
The fixture, set for Wednesday, April 2, will remain unchanged after the Premier League rejected the request, according to Mail Sport.
Everton face Arsenal three days later, while Liverpool continue their title push, making the rescheduling request mutually beneficial.
However, the league ruled that Everton’s next match does not violate the 60-hour recovery rule, meaning there was no basis for a fixture change.
Liverpool, leading Arsenal by 12 points, will look to bounce back after losses to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
Meanwhile, Everton aim to build momentum as they approach their final season at Goodison Park.
