Man United’s £62.5m bid for Bryan Mbeumo rejected Brentford demand more
Manchester United’s opening bid worth £62.5 million (including add-ons) for Bryan Mbeumo has been rejected by Brentford.
According to ESPN, the Bees are holding out for a fee exceeding £65 million for the high-scoring winger.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, has become a top transfer target for United, but Brentford believe his valuation has increased significantly and are playing hardball despite advanced negotiations.
While United remain confident of the player’s interest in a move to Old Trafford, they have privately stressed they will not be held to ransom and intend to maintain a disciplined approach to transfer spending, even as they look to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Red Devils have already landed Matheus Cunha for £62.5m after triggering his release clause at Wolves, but consider the 25-year-old Mbeumo, two years younger, a strategic investment with both immediate impact and long-term value.
Further talks between the clubs are expected in the coming days, with United still hopeful of securing the Cameroonian before the start of pre-season on July 7.
