United have found it difficult at left-back in recent months, having to deploy Noussair Mazraoui in the position due to Luke Shaw’s injury issues. Tyrell Malacia has also struggled with injury, although he recently returned to competitive action after a 17-month layoff.

It remains to be seen if Amorim will be able to bring a new left-back in during the January window, given that reports suggest he will be forced to operate with a reduced budget at Old Trafford. Romano claims a deal is more likely to be done in the summer.
