Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labour and Employment, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to his Abuja office by a team from the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCN).
Dingyadi asked for workers’ patience, noting that his ministry was still monitoring the level of compliance in various states because the implementation had just begun. He observed that, according to worker reports, four or five states had yet to fully comply, while others had implemented the minimum wage partially.
Handle the situation effectively. He also addressed other concerns expressed, such as those regarding the Office of the Accountant General and the Federal Civil Service Commission. He reassured the group that the issues will be thoroughly investigated and resolved amicably.
Dingyadi expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit and their congratulations on his reappointment as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He emphasized his commitment to promoting labor peace, stability, and cooperation, emphasizing that trade unions will always be welcome in his ministry. He also advised union leaders to take a nonviolent and constructive approach, urging for roundtable conversations to address disputes.
Earlier, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, President of ASCN, welcomed the Minister on his reappointment, calling it “a great opportunity to reinvigorate the Ministry of Labour and enhance industrial relations across the country.”
Mohammed requested the Minister’s involvement about the non-remittance of the union’s check-off dues by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, among other serious concerns.
He also commended the Ministry’s efforts in reforming trade unions and carrying out its oversight responsibilities, which he said had significantly improved the operations of unions across the nation.
