Mechanic Suffers Accident With Clients Truck in Tegucigalpa
Carelessness or unavoidable accident? Mechanic loses control of a truck that he was “testing” before the client bought it.
A car mechanic was on the brink of tragedy this Saturday after overturning a truck belonging to one of his clients.
The incident occurred on the Honduran capital’s ring road, near the 21 de Octubre neighborhood, on the way out to Valle de Ángeles.
According to the National Police report , the young driver, who preferred not to reveal his identity, was heading towards the San Miguel neighborhood when he lost control of the car and hit the curb of the road.
The strong impact caused the truck to go in the wrong direction, creating traffic congestion in the area.
“I was working on it. I was testing the car, bro,” the mechanic explained to the police officers who arrived to attend to the situation.
The young man said he does not know the name of the owner of the vehicle, a Ford Escape that ended up with considerable damage. Members of the 911 emergency system arrived at the scene to provide medical attention to the mechanic, who fortunately did not suffer serious injuries.
A witness to the accident told authorities that the driver was speeding and made a reckless maneuver that caused the car to roll over.
However, this version contradicts the testimony of the mechanic, who stated that another vehicle invaded his lane, forcing him to make an evasive maneuver.
The authorities will be responsible for clarifying the circumstances of the incident , which fortunately did not cause any additional victims or material damage beyond the vehicle involved.
Accidents in Honduras
According to recent data, more than 1,200 traffic accidents have been reported in Honduras so far in 2025, resulting in approximately 350 deaths and more than 1,500 injuries.
Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula remain the cities with the highest incidence of these incidents.
The main causes continue to be speeding, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. In addition, a high percentage of incidents involve motorcycles.
Traffic authorities have increased operations on the country’s main highways, especially during weekends and holidays, in order to reduce these alarming rates.
