Meghan Markle surprised fans earlier this year when she (softly) launched her new lifestyle brand . According to one expert, the move is a testament to her “impatientness.”
Meghan and Harry, since stepping down from their royal duties, are building a new life in the United States, one that includes new business ventures.
In fact, Meghan announced earlier this year that she would be launching her business American Riviera Orchard, which one expert says was a big mistake.
Too early for a launch
Meghan stirred up excitement among fans when she returned to Instagram in March 2024. The Duchess of Sussex announced the launch of her new business venture, American Riviera Orchard , a lifestyle brand offering items like jams, textiles, and other items for a “comfortable” everyday. After taking the idea to Instagram , a few celebrities promoted products Meghan had sent them as part of the soft launch. However, once those two things happened, everything seemed to stop. American Riviera Orchard barely made a splash all year.
Speaking on the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential, royal expert Richard Eden criticised Meghan for launching her Instagram account too early. “Everyone knows you don’t launch a social media account and then do nothing with it ,” he said. “It was definitely launched before it was ready; it’s kind of a no-brainer. I think it’s next year that something might happen. It’s basically a question of impatience.”
Unforeseen events along the way
There have been reports of setbacks in the launch of American Riviera Orchard , including issues with its patent applications. That doesn’t mean the brand is in trouble, though. Building a business takes time, and there are often hurdles and setbacks along the way.
Richard Eden believes that “something” could be out by 2025. He also says that Meghan could have hoped for a 2024 launch before complications hit her. And then, Meghan and Harry recently bought a holiday home in Portugal, so it’s clear they don’t need the revenue from her brand right now.
