Mike Tyson is being sued for allegedly reneging on a promotional deal with a gambling company to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
UK-based Medier, which promotes online casino and betting company Rabona, is accusing the legendary boxer and his company Tyrannic of breaking a January contract on the day the Netflix special was announced in March, citing a scheduling conflict and claiming a breach of the agreement by Medier.
The lawsuit, filed in London in October, claims otherwise, and argues that Tyson cost Medier a loss of roughly $1.59 million (1.5 million euros).

“The true reason for Mr. Tyson and Tyrannic’s hasty and unlawful termination was because Mr. Tyson had agreed [to] a deal, sponsored by Netflix, to fight the influencer Jake Paul,” the company’s lawyer wrote in documents released on Friday.
In response, Tyson’s representatives released a statement to The Post.
“It is the company’s position that Medier, Ltd. materially breached the terms of its license agreement on multiple occasions and in various ways. As such, Tyrannic, LLC was well within its legal and contractual rights to terminate the license agreement for material breach in an effort to mitigate additional reputational harm to the Tyson brand.”
Medier’s lawsuit is just the latest in connection to the Nov. 15 special that brought in 108 million viewers worldwide.
A Florida man named Ronald “Blue” Denton filed a class-action lawsuit against Netflix in the days after the fight over the poor streaming quality that affected millions during the widely viewed boxing match, seeking damages of at least $50 million.

There were questions about the authenticity of the fight after Paul, 27, beat the 58-year-old Tyson in an eight-round snoozer, and comments made in the aftermath of the bout by the winner left one sports attorney to think there could be legal action.
“It wouldn’t shock me one bit to see a lawsuit filed on this fight,” Dan Lust, a Sports Attorney at Moritt Hock & Hamroff and Law Professor at New York Law School, told The Post in November.
