More than 11 Years in Prison was Imposed on a Member of the Montes Bobadilla clan.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, through the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime (Fescco) and its Anti-Drug Section, obtained an 11-year prison sentence against Juan Manuel Orellana Veliz , a member of the Montes Bobadilla clan , arrested during Operation ‘Aquarium’.
Orellana Veliz was captured on May 23, 2024, by the Directorate for the Fight against Drug Trafficking (DLCN), in an operation that included 13 raids in the department of Colón.
He was sentenced for drug trafficking, although he also faces legal proceedings for money laundering and illegal possession of prohibited weapons.
During the operation, authorities seized five kilos of cocaine, 37 packages of the substance, 2.2 kilograms of cocaine base, two rifles (AK-47 and AR-15), two pistols, 627 5.56 millimeter (mm) projectiles, 173 9 mm caliber bullets and 150 7.62 mm caliber ammunition.
Additionally, a tactical vest, two vehicles, four motorcycles, and materials used to prepare clandestine airstrips were seized.
