NATO: Russia planned assassination attempt on top executive German defence company
Last year, US television channel CNN reported on Russian plans to kill a top executive of a German defence company. NATO confirmed this news.
Last year, CNN reported that Western intelligence and. security services had foiled a Russian plan to assassinate Armin Papperger, the top executive of Rheinmetall, a company mainly active in the defence sector.
James Appathurai, a top NATO official responsible for defending against sabotage and other non-military attacks, told the European Parliament that NATO countries were increasingly facing ‘hybrid attacks’ such as ‘derailing trains, arson, attacks on politicians’ property and the threat that industrial leaders such as the head of Rheinmetall could be assassinated’.
