The management of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), has announced the shutting down of services at its headquarters in Sauka, Abuja.
The service said the shutdown was due to President Bola Tinubu’s commissioning of the NIS Technology Complex.
DCI KT Udo, the NIS Public Relations Officer, announced in a statement issued on Monday that the NIS headquarters will be closed on Tuesday, but the web portal would remain open.
Udo stated, “The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that all services at the NIS Headquarters, Sauka, Abuja, will be temporarily unavailable on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, due to the Presidential Commissioning of the TECHNOLOGY COMPLEX in the Service Headquarters.”
“During this time, the following services will be impacted at the NIS Service Headquarters: passport issuance and renewals (biometric capture); other related immigration services; and banking services within the SHQ.”
“All applicants and members of the public are advised to make preparations to visit the NIS Headquarters after the specified date. The NIS online site will remain operational to meet your requirements.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary shutdown may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.”
