Old Man Arrested For Abusing 7 Year Old Girl in Choluteca
The man, who has a disability in his hand and foot, allegedly took advantage of being the girl’s neighbor to commit the crime, although he maintains his innocence.
A 77-year-old Honduran man was arrested this Wednesday by agents of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) after being charged with sexual assault against a minor just 7 years old.
Following an investigation by the competent authorities, the man with a motor disability was captured in the El Esfuerz neighborhood of the municipality of San Marcos de Colón in the department of Choluteca, in southern Honduras.
According to information provided by the police, the man is accused of sexually assaulting the minor in October 2024 while she was playing on the sidewalk outside her home.
“This person allegedly took advantage of the victim’s neighbor, inviting her to come to his home and sexually assaulting her ,” UMEP 4 sub-inspector Gissela Santos told local media.
After the reprehensible act, the minor ran away and told her parents that the neighbor had touched her private parts , so they filed a complaint with the local authorities.
Elderly man claims to be innocent
While being admitted to the Choluteca courts, the elderly man, who identified himself as Mr. Anunciación , claimed to be innocent before the Televida cameras .
“They say I raped a girl, but it’s a complete lie. I didn’t do it,” he managed to say as he was ushered into the building by police officers.
Finally, he said he had already informed his family so they could keep an eye on him and prove his supposed innocence.
Conviction for sexual abuse in Honduras
As established in the Honduran Penal Code , article 249: “The perpetrator of the crime of rape must be punished with prison sentences of nine (9) to thirteen (13) years, prohibition of residence and approach to the victim for twice the time of the prison sentence.”
However, this penalty should be increased by one-third if the victim is under 14 years of age.
