During the meeting, the Honduran president discussed key issues such as agricultural production and food security with Dongyu.
The Foreign Minister of the Republic , Eduardo Enrique Reina, reported that this Tuesday President Xiomara Castro held an important meeting with Qu Dongyu, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO ).
The meeting was also attended by Laura Suazo, head of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG).
During the meeting, the Honduran president discussed with Dongyu key issues such as agricultural production , food security and support for small producers in the country, according to Foreign Minister Reina.
Qu Dongyu is also reported to be planning to visit a number of FAO -supported projects in Honduras , demonstrating the organization’s commitment to agricultural development in the country.
FAO Director Qu Dongyu will also participate tomorrow as a keynote speaker at the First International Coffee Summit taking place in Honduras, sponsored by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
At the end of the meeting, Dongyu said that he maintains a very close relationship with President Castro.
“We are here to be able to guarantee and to be able to move forward in these relationships in order to continue cultivating them,” he added. He said that Honduras has great potential to continue promoting policies on food security through different technologies.
