The 2024 Princess of Asturias Awards will be presented next Friday, October 25 , and will take place as usual, at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.
This event is recognized for being of the royalty of Spain, this is because in 1981 they were instituted in recognition of the hard work of many people who contribute to the progress and well-being of society in the country.
In October 2014 , the board of trustees of the Prince of Asturias Foundation approved that both the institution and the awards would be renamed the Princess of Asturias Awards (in allusion to the heir of the crown, Princess Leonor of Bourbon).
The King and Queen Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía are expected to be present at the awards ceremony , as it also marks 10 years since the Princess of Asturias was named Honorary President of the Institution.
For this reason, the Institution will extend the week of the Awards and the city of Asturias will be able to enjoy the various events that have been prepared for this celebration by the Spanish royalty.
Who are the winners of the 2024 Princess of Asturias Awards?
- Joan Manuel Serrat: receives the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts.
- Marjane Satrapi: awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities.
- Michael Ignatieff: will receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Social Sciences.
- Ana Blandiana: receives the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature.

They will be awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, and have already confirmed their attendance at the royal ceremony at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.
This award has been presented to Magnum Photos, represented by its current president, Cristina de Middel, accompanied by photographers and former presidents of the agency Thomas Dworzak, Olivia Arthur and Alex Majoli.
International Cooperation Award:
The Organization of Ibero-American States will be awarded the International Cooperation Prize and will be represented by its Secretary General Mariano Jabonero Blanco.

What events can you enjoy this week?
From 14 to 26 October, visitors can visit a new exhibition by Magnum Photos called “Spain X Magnum”. It will feature 12 archive photos from the agency, selected by the President.
This is with the aim of inviting us to reflect on the power that the gaze has to shape the perception we have of ourselves and also to know that each work has its meaning and is different for each spectator.
On October 23, at the Jovellanos Theater in Gijón, Joan Manuel Serrat, Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, will review his life and professional career alongside Iñaki Gabilondo.
On October 24th, the traditional Premios de Asturias concert will take place at the Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo. The royal family has confirmed that Princess Leonor will attend this event, as she will receive the title of Honorary Mayor of Oviedo.
